Spent yesterday morning trying to eq the bottom end of the acoustic guitar - got about a third of the way there as can be seen in the photo.

Took a break to check some internet lists. Music making always seems to be quite an unimportant thing to do/the most important thing to do - have been thinking a lot about this lately. Yesterday (the day of qana bombing) I got directed (thanks Pauline at deeplistening.org) to here: Starry Night . Do, Gorwel 1, a roedd yn dda iawn hefyd! Heblaw am y cerddoriaeth ei hun, o’dd y swn o’dd o’n cael allan o’r delyn yn rwbath arbennig hefyd. Chwara trwy amp - lot o overtones inharmonic o’dd yn neud i’r peth swnio fel clychau - dim yn siwr os oedd hwn i wneud efo’r amp neu efo ‘problem’ efo tant - ella bod o’n fwriadol? Amp Paul hefyd yn gweithio fel sêt - dwi di bod yn meddwl tipyn am y syniad o bob cerddor ddefnyddio amps mewn sefyllfa byw yn lle stereo PA ar gyfer pawb, fel bod lleoliad unigol y cerddor yn cael ei gadw. 

Gorwel 2

Hello! This a a picture of my hammered dulcimer, which I am delighted to have. So thank you to Kathie Drinan in Walsall, who we bought it off and who shed a little tear when it went. I have assured her that it will have a good home with us, and will hopefully be heard on our next album. We have set ourselves the target of getting the album recorded and OUT by this coming Christmas - quite a feat, given the way time runs fast and there is always so much to do that defocuses our intentions.

However, we have tired of hearing ourselves bemoan this fact. I am keen to renegotiate my relationship with time, so that Brother Time and I argue with each other less. It struck me recently - as I said to Gwilym Morus - that here am I, trying to walk a path of non-violence and yet often relating to time in a combative way. You have to live a paced life for peace - as either Alex Wildwood or Ben Pink Dandelion said on the course I went to recently at Woodbrooke, with everything given its due time and attention. Getting our album finished will be a practice in this renegotiating process.

Ar hyn o’r bryd dwi’n bodoli mewn amryw o diwillianau cerddorol sydd ddim yn aml yn gyfforddus efo’i gilydd ond eto dwi’n yn gyfforddus ym mhob un…gobeithio neith hyn ddim troi mewn i fath o record ffiwsion dodgy.
