To re-launch Rhwng: the Point Between after its break, poet, writer and inspiring teacher Paul Matthews returned to Ucheldre Centre, Holyhead with:
‘BETWEEN YOU AND ME: a Creative Writing workshop’
When ‘I’ meet ‘You’ I give you my attention, my interest, my growing appreciation, and the need arises to recreate my language to be worthy of the encounter. Through guided tasks in writing (both playful and profound) words will come alive between us. The ‘You’ might be the person sitting next to you in the group. It might even be the chair you are sitting on, or the rose outside waiting to be addressed and recognized. ‘Inter-est’ means ‘to be between’, and whenever that wakes up in us a magic surely becomes possible.
10am-4pm, Ucheldre Centre, Holyhead, Ynys Môn, North Wales. Open to all levels of writing experience, and none.
Followed by a poetry reading: ‘The fabulous Names of things’ by Paul Matthews with song interludes by Fiona and Gorwel Owen.
PAUL MATTHEWS, who lives in Forest Row, Sussex, travels widely with his work, speaking his poetry and encouraging others in the use of imagination. His inspirational books on the creative process, Sing Me the Creation, andWords in Place (available from Hawthorn Press) explore the relationship between word and world and the responsibilities involved. The Ground that Love Seeks and Slippery Characters (both from Five Seasons Press) are gatherings of his poetry.
