‘Minding the Gap – exploring the spaces between and within creative and therapeutic writing’
Led by Fiona Owen and Eileen Dewhurst
As the days shorten and autumn deepens, we will explore themes of transition, shifts, surrender and maturation through a consideration of that fine line between different modes of writing – the therapeutic and the art-making. It is open to all levels of ability and interest, with no creative or therapeutic writing experience necessary. Please bring pens, notebooks and any friends who might be interested – and, if possible, something related to the seasonal theme to read or sing for the final session.
Fiona Owen writes poetry and prose, and her publications include Going Gentle and Imagining the Full Hundred, with Screen of Brightness co-written with poet Meredith Andrea. The Green Gate will be published by Cinnamon in 2015. Fiona teaches creative writing, literature and other arts subjects for the Open University, is training as a Focusing Practitioner, writes songs with Gorwel Owen and runs ‘Rhwng: the Point Between’ events at Canolfan Ucheldre Centre.
Eileen Dewhurst is an experienced health professional with a diploma in therapeutic counselling. She has an MA in Creative Writing and has published both poetry and short stories. She has a long-standing interest in the role of creativity in the process of healing.
